Yup, recent announcements have been a bit of a bummer so here’s some maps that I’m updating this week to help you and your family get to know your (now) hometown over for the next couple of weeks.
‘Eat Local’ map featuring +200 local restaurants offering take-out or delivery, including a printable contact-info list and ordered by cuisine. Some of this info may be a bit dated. Afterall, I did not expect to be reposting this map so soon, yet here we are. Freshly updated tonight and will continue to be updated in the coming weeks.
‘Buy Local’ map featuring local small business alternatives to big box stores for buying “essentials” (groceries, household supplies etc). Will continue to be updated in the next few days.
‘Guelph Little Libraries’ map - I’ve been walking around town scoping out and taking pictures of little libraries, and arranging them into little walk-able routes. Each a route is under 6kms and loops around so you can get back to where you started. Most of the routes take you through neighbourhoods and sidewalks that should be accessible even in the winters – but mind the snow on the sidewalks! A fun trip for families with kids.
‘Guelph City Parks’ map - There are 125 parks managed by the City of Guelph. Maybe you can make it your goal to visit them all? This link takes you to an interactive map of all the parks, plus a printable checklist so you can keep track of the ones you’ve visited. Also some maps that are specifically about parks that are open all season and connected by winter trails.

If all else fails to bring in the cheer and joy, here’s a picture of my cat:
